The Matteson Fire Department is always reevaluating and revising its methods to secure the safety of the residents. One way to ensure this is to clearly mark your residence or place of business so that we can get to you faster.

The Matteson Fire Department maintains an average response time of four to six minutes but in a life or death situation, minutes can make all the difference.  If your house is not clearly marked with your house number, you could unnecessarily be endangering yourself or your family.

The village has a housing code stating that there must be a visible, unobstructed four inch tall house number. This number should be in a location that can be seen from the street during the day or night.  Walk out to the street in front of your house at night and ask yourself, “Can someone who has never been here see my house numbers clearly?”
